1. Who We Are

WordGate ("we", "our", "us") is an iOS application developed by Sebastian Grossmann. You can reach us at [email protected].

2. What Data We Collect

WordGate collects no personal data and transmits nothing off your device. All information stays in on-device storage (SwiftData and App Group UserDefaults). Specifically, the app stores:

• Learning preferences – vocabulary level (beginner / intermediate / advanced), daily word goal, minutes earned per correct answer, and bank cap setting.
• Usage counters – streak days, last practice date, daily words answered correctly, and time-bank balance (in minutes).
• App blocking configuration – the list of apps you have chosen to block and any schedules you have set. This information is stored locally and processed entirely on your device by Apple's Screen Time framework.
• Quiz history – session records and per-word performance used to track your progress through the vocabulary library.
• Onboarding state – a flag indicating whether you have completed the onboarding flow.

None of the above is ever sent to us or any third party.

3. Screen Time & FamilyControls

WordGate uses Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls) to apply and remove app shields on your device. This entitlement grants the app the ability to:

• Display a block screen over apps you have selected.
• Remove the block screen when you spend your earned time-bank balance.
• Monitor device activity events (schedule start/end, midnight reset) to manage blocking windows.

The Screen Time API operates entirely on-device. WordGate never sees, stores, or transmits your app-usage data or screen-time statistics. The app only knows which apps you have explicitly chosen to block within WordGate itself.

4. Purchases & Subscriptions

WordGate Pro is sold through Apple's App Store via StoreKit 2. All payment processing is handled solely by Apple. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card details, Apple ID, or billing information. Purchase receipts are validated on-device through Apple's StoreKit framework without contacting our servers.
